Kilt

Earlier this week, Anna Claire wrote the word "kilt" on this paper and then announced, "Mommy, I wrote 'kilt'."

Then I asked her if she knew what a kilt was. "No," she said.

I laughed.

Then I explained that it is a skirt that a man can wear and that it usually has a plaid pattern. She looked at me, laughed and said, "No Mommy."

I said, "yes!" Then drew a kilt under her word. She drew the man wearing it.

Then yesterday we saw men wearing kilts  at the St. Patricks Day parade! Perfect timing!

Making Daddy Proud

Do we ever get looks when we tell people AC doesn't like pizza. She really doesn't.

But we are good with it because of what she WILL eat. This little lady's palette impresses me daily. She loves kale, capers, anchovies, raw oysters, and prefers her steak medium rare. Yep, she's Larry Averitt's child.

Just keep trying, Mommy.

So, tonight AC and I were singing a song together, and after the song ended she said, "Mommy, you can be a good singer like me if you practice. Just keep trying, Mommy. Don't give up." She saw the look on my face and added, "You ARE a good singer, Mommy. I'm just better, that's all."

Knotting Everything...

AC made me this bracelet and told me she would hang it with my other jewelry so I will see it when I get ready tomorrow. She is so proud she finally learned how to tie knots. She's knotting everything ;)

She also made me this necklace which I cannot untie. She's getting a little too good at this. Ha!

Book fair money

Anna Claire just handed this to me and said here's my book fair money. I love that she still thinks her play money is real.

Will Pop Be Back?

I am afraid I forget sometimes that Anna Claire is just 4. She is just such an old soul and so emotionally mature for her age that I find myself in awe.

Larry and I were talking Wednesday of last week about how down she seemed. Not her happy self, withdrawn, sad even.

We guessed it was because Larry's dad, her Pop, who also lives with us, was in the hospital.

A car ride conversation confirmed it. She was so worried about him! And in her mind she had equated it to what happened to my mom, her Meme.

"Mommy, is Pop going to rehab? Will Pop have Hospice? Will Pop go to Signature? Will he be in a wheelchair? Is Pop coming back home?"

Then, the day we drove to pick him up and bring him home, Larry explained he would be coming home. She jumped up and down and cheered and had the biggest smile on her face you ever saw. Precious girl!

Now if we could just figure out how to explain to her the her Grandpa Freddie has cancer and what cancer is. We just haven't had the heart so far. Praying for the words and timing! And victory over cancer, ultimately!
